Under 13 Girls Blitz at Londonderry Park

On Sunday the Under 13 Girls took part in the blitz at Londonderry Park. Only one team was allowed to enter and a couple of our regular girls were missing due to other commitments. Nevertheless, 12 eager girls took on 5 matches and played their socks off.

We are in the unfortunate position that we do not have a goal keeper, we did have a kit though and praise must go to Atlanta, Caitlin and Tara who all took their turn in nets and did us proud. Thank you girls!!

It was a bit of a shaky start against Bangor, they were strong and played well from the off. We needed a bit more time to find our feet and the game finished 2-0 to Bangor. The next game was against Saintfield and by this stage we were playing much nicer hockey and it finished 0-0. The third match was against a well organised Lisnagarvey team. Carys, Trudy and Tara defended really well and Caitlin made a couple of good saves to pull off a scoreless draw. Ards were the next opponents and we were unlucky not to win. Some lovely play from the twins and Eva put them under great pressure but yet again, the game ended 0-0. The final match of the day was against Ballynahinch. Eva scored our only goal of the day, but it was poor consolation as we were beaten 2-1 in the last minute of the game.

All in all, it was a great day of hockey with a great bunch of girls. Thank you to Caroline Davison for the goal keeper kit and getting the girls in and out of it, Ruby Donaldson for umpiring and all the girls and parents for taking part.
