Taylor duo’s goals secure thirds win
On Saturday North Down ladies thirds hosted Belfast Harlequins fourths at Regent House in a Junior League 4 encounter.
Both teams started out strongly and the visiting team quickly took a penalty corner but this was cleared by keeper Ashleigh Gorman. North Down were quickly onto the attack and managed to get into circle and win three corners in a row but couldn’t find the back of the net.
Halfway through the first quarter Laura Murray made progress down the right flank and crossed the ball for Sarah Taylor to put the ball in the back of the net. Going into the second quarter the play was very even but after great teamwork between Emma Heron, Kate McConnell and Kathy Taylor North Down increased their lead with a goal from centre midfielder Taylor.
The visiting team started the second half very positively and put the North Down defence under a great deal of pressure. The home team gathered themselves and continued playing the game they had in the first half. Great one two passes between Laura Murray and Tessa Griffith put the visiting team on the back foot with left wing Leah Drysdale just failing to find the back of the net. North Down remained strong throughout the last quarter and kept the scoreline at 2-0.
Burch Autos Player of the Match was Kate McConnell.
