Three points for ladies fifths on the road

North Down ladies fifths made the trip to take on Banbridge 4ths at Havelock Park last Saturday.

Two goals from Maxine Taylor secured the win but Ruby Donaldson and Marion Sanderson came so close to getting more only to be let down by poor finishing.

Banbridge played well, especially their goalkeeper who made countless saves, but the fifths matched them in all departments and were only hampered by head injuries to Ann McBride and Sanderson. The left side trio of Erin McConnell, Emma and Ruby Donaldson carried on to the very last second thwarting Banbridge’s attacks to keep the score at 2-0 to the visitors.  However the player who deserved a special mention was captain Maxine Taylor who literally was laying her life at the back to stop the ball going in, clearing it off the line at least eight times.

The fifths held out to the end with a good three points in an enjoyable sporting game.

Burch Autos Player of the Match was Maxine Taylor.
