Good home win for ladies seconds

North Down seconds hosted Castle seconds in the league last Saturday.

It was a quick start from the Comber girls who had the majority of possession early on, working the ball quickly around the Castle half and winning a short corner. Judith Orr pulled the ball out to Megan Murray who struck from the top of the circle to give North Down a 1-0 lead. North Down continued to dominate possession in midfield and worked the ball well down the left hand side before Megan Spence found Sophie Hoey in the circle who put the hosts 2-0 up at the end of the first quarter.
Castle fought back well in the second quarter but Angelique Toombs, Louise McIlwrath and Ali Campbell made some solid tackles and interceptions to keep them out of the circle and the score remained the same at half time.

In the third quarter Castle got a quick break after North Down were caught too high, and their striker finished with a beautiful shot into the bottom corner of the goal to get them on the scoresheet and back in the game. North Down responded well with Judith Orr playing some fantastic balls into the circle and the North Down forwards forcing a number of saves from the Castle keeper. One of these balls found Katie Migan at the top of the circle who wasted no time in putting it in the back of the net and leaving North Down 3-1 ahead going into the final quarter. North Down closed things out with a final goal beautifully finished by Amy Jones who thoroughly deserved to get on the score sheet after showing some beautiful skills down the left wing and into the circle to make the final score 4-1 to North Down.

Burch Autos Player of the Match was Angelique Toombs.
