Amy’s double on the money!

On Saturday North Down Ladies seconds were on the road to play newly promoted Ballymoney 3rds.

The game started with the Comber girls on the front foot and creating some lovely passing hockey. Their pressure was rewarded when some neat play found forward Amy Jones in the circle with the ball. Amy’s first shot was saved but she pounced on the rebound and slipped it away. Despite chances at both ends, the defences were on top and there was no further scoring for the remainder of the half making it 1-0 at halftime to the Comber girls.

The second half started with Ballymoney coming out strongly and looking to equalise. North Down held firm with the whole team working well together to move the ball and tracking back when Ballymoney were on the attack. Their efforts were rewarded when a sideline ball was quickly taken by Ali Campbell. She sent a stunning ball into the circle through a Ballymoney defender to again find Amy Jones. This time her first shot found the back of the net to increase North Down’s advantage and make the score 2-0 to the visitors. The remainder of the match continued with North Down playing some great hockey and the defence dealt with any Ballymoney attacking play giving keeper Nikki Ferris a clean sheet with the final score remaining 2-0.

Burch Autos Player of the Match was Amy Jones.
