The ladies fifths went to Saintfield thirds with an unheard of squad of 14!
The match was very physical and fast but the defence of Bev Brittain, Linda Marshall, Zara Oliver, Erin McConnell, Jill Jack and Ann McBride held strong for the first two quarters clearing some great balls to the awaiting midfield who were able to find the forwards but it was scoreless at half time.
Everyone played so much better than last week and this paid off with a well won corner in the third quarter which saw Hilary West find the back of the net with a first time strike. Saintfield counter-attacked straight away and equalised when a deflection found the back of the net. Undaunted, the fifths rallied, gained another corner and this time West passed back to a waiting Lynsey Scott on the left post and North Down were 2-1 up.
Into the last quarter there was no further scoring and it ended up as a great fought for win, a super team effort.
Burch Autos Player of the Match was Lynsey Scott.
