Training resumes
North Down Hockey Club returned to pre-season fitness training this week following the abrupt early end to hockey in March. However, it was training with a difference as the club has to comply with the various restrictions imposed by government and the hockey ruling bodies in Belfast and Dublin. Players must now complete a health declaration before each training session without which they cannot participate and numbers at each session are limited presently to 30. To minimise the admin involved this is all done by way of an app which also serves as an attendance and contact register. With so many wanting to blow away the cobwebs from the long break ,two sessions on the first night were run simultaneously at the fabulous cricket grounds at The Green with training overseen by North Down’s senior fitness coach Stuart McGilton assisted by Davy Donaldson.
Ladies fitness training starts next Monday at North Down Cricket Club before the serious stuff begins with hockey skills on the astro shortly. All members please keep an eye on the Club’s closed Facebook page for exact details on timings and for the link to the training app.
