When and where did you first play hockey?
I started playing at the age of 12 when I started secondary school. I went to Rainey in Magherafelt.
Have you played for any other hockey clubs?
No, I played at school and had a break when I was at uni. After 5 years of little to no exercise I thought it would be a good idea to go to preseason training…
And so, I joined North Down.
How long have you been at North Down?
This has been my second season.
Do you have any personal ambitions in hockey?
Just to enjoy it and have fun – winning is a bonus.
What has been your best moment at North Down?
I would say it was being awarded the 2nd XI player of the year on my first year at North Down last season. That and when Amy Jones did the most unorthodox aerial during one of our matches – took everyone by surprise, even Amy!
Who has been your favourite player to play with at North Down and why?
I enjoy playing alongside all the girls, both at training and in games, so I could pick several. Jenna Hoey is a great captain, works extremely hard on and off the pitch and it seems she can play any position. There is never a dull moment with Nikki Ferris in goals. She is always positive and encouraging right up to the final whistle. She also makes incredible saves which is a plus.
What is your least favourite team to play against?
Hmm… based on this season, ****** ****.
Who in your North Down team would you want, and who not, on your quiz team?
Ali Campbell – I’m confident Ali would be as reliable in a quiz as she is on the pitch and there’s no doubt, she’d be a great drinking partner as well! Myself, quizzing isn’t my strong point.
Do you follow a particular football team?
I enjoy watching football occasionally, but don’t really support a team.
What other sports are you interested in and do you play any other sports?
I play in my work tag rugby team. We play in spring/summer, so it keeps me active and fills the hockey void until preseason starts again.
What is the best holiday you have ever had?
New York at the start of year lived up to expectations.
Where is your ideal holiday location?
Bali/Maldives
What type of music do you like?
Was a huge One Direction fan – so basic! Currently enjoying Lewis Capaldi, Sam Fender and Dermot Kennedy.
What is your favourite TV programme?
Gavin and Stacey.
What is your favourite movie?
Avengers – End Game
Have you a favourite book you have read again?
Not an avid reader.
What is your favourite food and drink?
Little wing’s picante pizza with a diet coke.
Full cream, semi-skimmed or skimmed milk?
Semi-skimmed.
If you could invite four people, living or dead, to a dinner party who would they be?
Chris Hemsworth, Harry Styles, James Corden and Khloe Kardashian.
What have you been doing to stay fit during the coronavirus break?
The odd run/cycle and jumping around the living room doing home workouts that terrify the cat.
