Under 15 Girls win at Saintfield

Well done to our Under 15 Girls Development team who played away to Saintfield on Friday evening in a league fixture. The girls came back from being a goal down to win 2-1 with goals from Sophie Galway and Jessica Murray.

The midfield three of Sofia, Tess and Jessica were on fire! Together they attacked solidly, but also worked back when play broke down. Sofia tackled hard and placed some beautiful balls up to the forwards, Tess covered lots of ground doing a super holding role in the middle, while Jessica was like a rocket as she attacked down the right and sent some lovely crosses into the circle.

Our rotating forward line of Kate, Natalya, Leah, Lara, Abbie and Sophie were amazing and displayed great versatility. Kate who’s normally a midfielder made lovely interceptions and drove the ball forward, Natalya, who used to be a goalie showed her flexibility as she attacked hard down the wing while Leah and Lara worked back tirelessly to support midfield when under pressure.  Abbi showed great determination as she battled to make 50/50 balls her and finally Sophie who created havoc on the oppositions defence with her speed and strength on the ball.

Our defence were absolutely superb and worked solidly as a unit. Shannon cut out threatening play on the right with excellent timed tackles and then linked effortlessly with Jessica as they went on the counter attack. Eilidh with her Duracell batteries made some excellent takes and broke down lots of dangerous play. Emma with her cool head, kept the shape well on the left and displayed lovely skill on the ball, dodging opposition and finding a North Down shirt. Sweeper Hannah had a great game at the back, not only making vital clearances but also finding clever passes at hit outs. Finally onto our goalie Amy who kept us in the game with some amazing heart stopping saves, not only from goal mouth scuffles but from big shots.

All in all a fantastic performance with every girl showing great determination and teamwork
