Seconds just shade victory over Dale seconds

The mens seconds returned to their Friday night lights slot at Comber Leisure Centre against Annadale seconds in what already was a must win league game!

After a scrappy first quarter the game came to life! North Down gifted Annadale the first goal of the match but responded immediately from the push back with the returning Steven McGimpsey finding Toby Fynn in the circle who turned and smashed the ball past the Dale keeper to level the scores! However, further poor defending from North Down resulted in Annadale grabbing their second of game and leading 2-1 at half time.

North Down finally got their press working effectively in the third quarter and took control of the game with Stephen Dalzell getting the faintest of touches from a Paul Adgey piledriver into the circle to level the scores 2-2 at the end of the quarter.

With both teams pushing for the winner the game started to get stretched! North Down won three penalty corners in a row and Chris Speers continued his rich vein of form by scoring a drag flick into the top right hand corner to hand North Down the lead with 2 minutes left on the clock! North managed to see out those last few minutes to walk away with a well deserved first league win of the season!

Big thanks to the whole team for making the effort to get to the game with many coming straight from work and school open nights etc! Also thanks to Shea Kelly for manning the whistle and Rich Willis for running the bench!
