Ladies thirds hold out for the win

On Saturday North Down ladies thirds hosted Lisnagarvey fourths at Comber. Having lost at Queens last week North Down were determined to get a win under their belts.

With a strong starting team, North Down hit the ground running and put pressure on the Garvey defence forcing them to make mistakes. North Down settled into their own game very quickly with the first goal of the game coming from Amy Jones. Garvey were quick to turn the play and had numerous breaks to get on the scoresheet. North Down got their second goal before the end of the first quarter from right back Laura Campbell hitting the ball to the left post where Kirsty McCrory found the back of the net.

North Down used the quarter breaks wisely and kept focused for the rest of the game. The Garvey forwards made the home team work hard in the second half of the game and had a few shots on goal but these were easily cleared by the goalkeeper. Throughout the last quarter North Down worked their hardest and maintained their two goal advantage right to the end.
