Late goals secure seconds victory over Mossley

North Down seconds defeated their Mossley counterparts 6-2 at Comber Leisure Centre last Saturday in the Junior One League Cup with the local highlight being a hattrick of drag flick short corner goals from Chris Speers.

North Down dominated the first 2 quarters missing a host of chances but were still able to go in 2-0 up at half time!

A dodgy third quarter ensued with North Down letting Mossley back into the match with the score 2-1 heading into the final quarter. North Down slowly gained control of the match again and their superior fitness told with a deluge of goals and the match ending 6-2 to North Down! Ben Palmer opened his North Down account with a great goal and Stevie Dalzell’s second goal will be long remembered as the easiest of tap ins.  Brickbat of the day belonged to Michael Orr whose open goal miss from two yards out eclipsed anything ever seen from Sam Pyper and Adam Tate.  All in all it a good performance from the seconds as they build towards another tough Junior One league campaign starting in a few weeks time.
