Girls’ blitz day success on Sunday

It was a great day on Sunday at Comber Leisure Centre for the first Under 11 and Under 13 girls blitz of the season and a really big thank you to Julie Fisher for organising everything so successfully.

The full day from 12:30 pm right through to 5:30 pm ran like clockwork. Thanks also to all the young umpires for officiating the matches today, the coaches for getting the teams together and to everyone else from putting on tea and coffee through to keeping time. Massive thanks to the parents who still stood out even in the rain to give support to all our teams.

Our under 11 section entered 3 teams taking all of our P5-P7s for the match experience (including two P4s). All teams performed fantastically showing great potential for the rest of the season and all teams showed great defensive work and top finishing in front of goal.

Our U13 section again entered 3 teams. The standard of this section has grown in the last number of years and the level of play in which the girls performed showed great promise for the senior club in a few years time.

A massive well done to all of the girls who played through the rain and were all still smiling by the end. It was brilliant to see so many young people enjoying their hockey.

It’s back to training as normal next week to prep for the next blitz!
