North Down gain Clubmark Award

The Ulster Hockey Union has confirmed the award of the Clubmark to North Down who now become only the 11th club in Ulster to gain this prestigeous award.

Ulster Hockey Clubmark is a club development programme aligned to Sport Northern Ireland’s Clubmark NI and designed to support junior sports clubs to continue to develop in order to meet the demands of the 21st century.

Ulster Hockey’s Clubmark programme has been specifically adapted to offer hockey clubs a common framework of operating standards in order that they may demonstrate that they are aspiring to provide quality standards and prioritising junior development, a national benchmark for high quality club hockey.

Gaining an award is an accreditation making a clear statement about the quality of the club’s practices and that they are regarded as fit for purpose.  This award to North Down is a reflection of the outstanding work put in by our coaches and administrators and an acknowledgement by Ulster Hockey that North Down is up there as one of the best run clubs in Ulster.

Special mention must go to Peter Whyte who did all the initial preparatory work, Andy Coates who finished it off and Peter Bond who streamlined many of our youth development procedures.  WELL DONE ALL!!!
